History of
Packer’s Tar Soap
In 1869, in the quaint fishing village of Mystic, Connecticut, Daniel F. Packer, an adventurer and entrepreneur, originated and sold “Packer’s All Healing Tar Soap”.
This famous soap now called “Packer’s Pine Tar Soap”, has been marketed continuously for over 150 years.

Descendant of one of the earliest Mystic Connecticut families and youngest of 11 children
Attended school in Mystic and later Buckley’s academy in Weston Connecticut
Caught up in the gold rush fever of 1849, Packer spent three years in California where he developed an interest in soaps
Upon his return to Mystic, Packer began working on a new soap that he would later market as “Packer’s All Healing Tar Soap.”
Packer’s Pine’s proprietary formula of natural pine tar and pine oils has provided millions of people with soothing help for a variety of skin conditions.
Packer’s Pine was recognized by the Army Corp of Engineers who used our soap as the insect repellent of choice prior to World War II
